Help us raise $71264 to get from Hopkinton to Boston! We hope to cross the finish line together this year! That is $2620 per mile to get us to Boston and then another $1310 for me and $1310 for Amin for the 13.1 miles back to Wellesley!

Dana-Farber runners set the pace in the fight against cancer by raising funds to support groundbreaking research and extraordinary patient care. Thanks to your support, Dana-Farber continues to make strides towards the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.

Many of you are familiar with my 6 year journey with cancer. I was diagnosed with invasive Stage 3 breast cancer in 2009. I had a mastectomy, 4 months of heavy duty chemo and 7 weeks of radiation. In 2014, on the 5th anniversary of my breast cancer diagnosis, I was diagnosed with invasive stage 3 thyroid cancer and underwent a total thyroidectomy followed by RAI treatment. This past August, I was diagnosed with a metastatic breast cancer recurrence. I was fortunate to stay strong over the past 6 years and continued to train and race throughout all of my treatments. I also ran 7 marathons during those 6 years, including 4 Boston marathons. When we shared the unfortunate news of my Stage 4 recurrence to my children, it was at first difficult for them to comprehend that I could have breast cancer in my skull, spine and hip and then they paused after a few moments of fear and sadness, and in unison, asked "Does this mean you won't be able to run Boston next year..." I quickly reassured them that I will be out there on the course running and trying my best. I was supposed to run a marathon in October to qualify but was unable to train properly as it was too close to the beginning of my treatments. I was fortunate to secure a number through the generosity of the BAA. I continue a regime of 21 days/month of targeted oral chemotherapy, monthly injections and infusions to attempt to slow the spread of the disease. And I run almost every day, mostly surrounded by good friends who keep me positive. I am hopeful that my prognosis is good and that I will have many more marathons in my future. And Amin has also just been offered a number for Boston. This will be our 3rd marathon starting together in the same wave. Last year, we made it to mile 15 together (before I took off!) and our dream this year is to finish together! We are doing our long runs together each weekend.
So Boston 2016 is more than a personal matter, it is a family matter. We are running to reassure our 4 children, and they love to guess who will cross the finish line first! We are also running to help raise funds for metastatic breast cancer research and treatment, one of the least funded areas in breast cancer. Please help me make a difference! Thank you!
